Overview

This short 1.5 mile hike climbs the side of a moderately-steep, dome shaped butte. At the top, visitors experience several Puebloan granaries built into stove alcoves, as well as views of scenic Taylor Canyon.

Trailhead

Access the trailhead from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center by driving 6.5 miles south. Just passed the Mesa Arch turnoff, turn right onto Upheaval Dome Road, and drive approximately 1 hour to the parking area.

Plan & Prepare

Temperatures in Moab can be highly variable, with summertime highs topping out above 100 degrees, and wintertime lows dipping below 30. Make sure you dress appropriately. During the summer, pack plenty of water, sunscreen. During the winter, dressing in layers is your best bet, as you’ll be able to peel clothes off, and put clothes on to suit your comfort level.
