This race has become one of the single greatest mountain bike races in the history of the sport. For one short weekend, a mountain bike city grows up out of the desert graze-lands as we host more than 5,000 racers, support crews, and spectators in a stunning remote location!

  • Hard core bikers usually have support crews. Multi-rider teams usually have beers.
  • An October event in Moab
  • Teams and individual riders of all abilities

Overview: Whether you've been mountain biking for a couple months or forever, you will enjoy the energy and excitement of a 24 hour mountain bike race. Biking teams send out one rider at a time to complete a lap, high-fiving their next rider at the starting line on their way back in. The energy at a 24 hour mountain biking race is persistent and motivating, making for a really fun and unique event.

When: An October event each year

Where: Moab, Utah

Fees: Entry fees vary. Free for public to watch

Details: 24 hour solo mountain bike racers are of another breed. Their ability to stay awake and continue pushing themselves on no sleep, cliff bars and Gu for 24 hours, all the while with a smile on their faces, is a quality of a super-human. It's fun to watch but I would much rather race a 24 hour mountain bike race as a team.

Although little power naps, nibbles of real food, and lots of hanging out don't make up for a lost night of sleep or a juicy double bacon cheeseburger, riding with a team is not nearly as exhausting and much more fun. Hard core bikers usually have support crews. Multi-rider teams usually have beers. All you need is a really good light so you can bike during the night.
