Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade

In Moab, Utah, the celebration of Christmas begins early; December 1 to be exact. Crowds from the city and surrounding areas gather in front of the county courthouse to witness the tree lighting ceremony and the Electric Light Parade which signal the kick off the Moab's annual holiday festivities.

Electric Light Parade - Kick off the holiday season with Moab's annual Electric Light Parade. Year after year this spectacular display of lighted floats and holiday costumes grows and attracts more and more spectators. The entire family will enjoy this amazing collection of lighted floats as they travel along Main Street in downtown Moab. For more information call 435-259-7814.

Overview: Start your holidays off right with a visit to Moab, Utah during the Christmas season. The town starts the celebration right every December 1 with an annual tree lighting ceremony, that is accompanied by Moab's Valley Voices choir, in front of the county courthouse. This is followed by the famous Electric Light Parade the following evening. As the name states, a majority of the floats are filled with bright electric lights alongside other Christmas favorites like larger than life Frostys and Santa's.

Details: Surprisingly, it is warm during the holidays in Moab, Utah and often times only a light jacket is required from December through January. In fact, it rarely snows here but winter activities, such as sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, are just around the corner.
