Swimming

Summer temperatures in the Utah desert routinely blister into the 100s. Yet, despite Moab's desert status, the area does have a variety of swimming options highlighted by the Moab Swimming Pool, a public aquatic center.

Located just minutes from downtown in Swanny City Park, Moab's 4,800 square foot pool caters to all ages. Ranging from three to twelve feet deep it features 50 meter laps, diving boards and a slide. To locate, follow Main Street (Route 191) north. Turn left on West 400 North and you'll find the Moab Swimming Pool at 181 West 400 North. For more information call the pool at (435) 259-8226.

Though not recognized by locals as an ideal place to take a dip, the nearby Colorado River does offer unsupervised swimming. Big Bend Campground, 7.5 miles from Route 191 on Scenic Byway 128, has a beach, providing easy access into the river.

And Ken's Lake, located 9 miles south of Moab off of Route 191, also offers swimming. If you venture here keep in the mind that this is a desert lake. Don't expect a lush swimming hole.
