Fees & Permits

Monument Valley is a great destination if you're looking to visit one of the most beautiful places on earth. Out of the valley rise towering sandstone monuments reaching up to 1,000 feet. Before you make the trip, however, be aware of the fees and permits you may need for the excursion.

Visitors flock to Monument Valley, one of the most recognizable attractions in Utah, for the breathtaking views and amazing scenery. Because the area is a designated Navajo Tribal Park, it's important to be prepared before visiting the valley.

The general admission entry fee is only $5.00, and kids age 9 and under get in for free, but the park doesn't accept National Parks and Golden Eagle Passes.

Camping costs $5.00 per person, per night for people over the age of 6. Camping requires a permit. Backcountry permit fees are $5.00 per person, per day.

Permits are also required for fishing in any of the lakes and streams, and for hunting game on any land that falls under the jurisdiction of the Navajo Nation.

Guides that take visitors on a hiking tour of the area are also required to have a permit, so make sure this is the case before departing. The permit must be obtained from the Navajo Nation.
