Visitor Center

The multi-purpose Monument Valley Visitors Center is located at the entrance of Valley Drive, the gateway to the Navajo Tribal Park. Travelers can load up on everything they need for an enjoyable trek through the gorgeous Utah/Arizona desert. The panoramic view from the Visitors Center makes it worth the stop.

The Visitors Center sits one mile east of US 163 at the Utah/Arizona border. It's open from 6 am to 8:30 pm in the summer and 8 to 4:30 pm in the winter. The center is closed on Christmas and has reduced hours on Thanksgiving, 8 am to noon. This a tribal park, rather than a national park, so it doesn't accept national parks discounts or promotional offers.

When visitors arrive at the Visitors Center, their eyes widen with awe at the magnificent buttes that rise nearly 1000 feet into the desert air. Photographic opportunities are abundant, so grab your camera and stop to take some pictures. There are handicap accessible paths around the center for those that might need them.

For those venturing on to the seventeen-mile loop of Valley Drive, gasoline, refreshments, and road condition information is available at the Visitors Center. Picnic tables surround the visitor campus and a full-service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Travelers looking for souvenirs will be delighted with one of Southwest's largest gift shops, while history buffs will enjoy the Navajo Nation exhibits that details the tribe's and the region's history.
