Overview

Located 175 miles away from Flagstaff, AZ, Goulding is one of the only towns located in Monument Valley. What began as a small trading post in 1923 is now a small community complete with a range of visitor services, including a lodge, campground, and museum. Goulding is the perfect base camp for all your Monument Valley adventures.

Goulding is located off the Valley Road, just north of the Utah, Arizona border, approximately 6 miles from Monument Valley Tribal Park. The town is located 175 miles away from Flagstaff, AZ, its closest neighbor.

Activities

Camping
Goulding is home to a modern campground complete with cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. Sites are available by reservation, either online or by phone.  Amenities include hot showers, indoor pool, sun deck, on-site convenience store, and 50 amp service.

Museum
The Goulding’s Trading Post Museum is dedicated to preserving the areas rich history as a trading hub, outdoor recreation destination, and classic Hollywood filming location. The museum is free to visit, though donations are encouraged.

Monument Valley Tribal Park
Located just 6 miles away, the Tribal Park is home the some of the area’s most breathtaking scenery.

Fun Facts

This area has been used as a location for many Hollywood Westerns, made most famous by John Wayne’s film The Searchers.
